The Herman Miller Saucer Crisscross Bubble Pendant is a beautiful Mid Century Modern classic design, originally innovated by George Nelson in 1952. This lighting design was inspired by a set of silk-covered Swedish hanging lamps and was reinvented by Nelson with a finely contoured plastic that encapsulates a nickel-plated steel frame. The Herman Miller Saucer Crisscross Bubble Pendant’s simple sculptural shape establishes this piece as a timeless work of art for modern design, awarding it permanent placement in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, along with the entirety of The Nelson Bubble Lamp collection.

Care and CleaningIn most settings the lamps can be cleaned with a feather duster or a soft cloth. If they become grimy, the process will be bit more complicated. We suggest cleaning them with a mild soap solution (a little ivory dish liquid in two quarts of lukewarm water, for example) and a soft cloth. To remove the soap, wipe with a clean, damp cloth and dry with a soft rag. Stronger solutions, like a glass cleaner containing ammonia, could discolor or damage the plastic coating.
