Description

The PK9 Dining Chair, frequently referred to as the "Tulip," represents a masterful evolution of the three-legged form. Poul Kjærholm designed this piece with unique structural integrity, where three curved bands of satin-brushed spring steel converge to form a central column before branching out to cradle the seat. The shell itself is a study in ergonomics; its distinct curvature was finalized after the designer's wife, Hanne Kjærholm, sat in boxes of clay to capture the perfect imprint for lasting comfort. Fully wrapped in premium leather, the seat creates a soft, organic contrast to the cool precision of the steel base, resulting in a silhouette that is both fluid and supportive.

Care instructions

Leather

Care & Maintenance: Vacuum regularly using a soft brush nozzle
Cleaning & Stain Removal: Clean only when necessary, using hot water and soap flakes. Dissolve 2-3 tablespoons of soap flakes in 1 liter of boiled water. Using only the foam, apply evenly across the surface of the furniture using a soft cloth. Mop excess water with a dry, soft cotton cloth. Allow the furniture to dry before use. Spot cleaning is not recommended for leather as it can cause discoloration. Damage caused by stain removers is not covered by the Fritz Hansen warranty
Caution: Sharp objects can scratch, and damage leather and non-colorfast clothing can cause permanent discoloration. Avoid placing in direct sunlight for extended periods of time or close to heat sources. Stacking of upholstered chairs can cause pressure marks in the upholstery. To minimize pressure marks when stacking upholstered chairs use the piece of cardboard and thin foam to divide the pressure from the four spacers onto a larger area. This does still not guarantee no pressure marks

Steel

Regularly wipe with a microfiber cloth to remove build-up
Clean with warm, soapy water and wipe dry to avoid streaking. Always wipe in the direction of the grain. Spot clean with benzine on a clean, soft cloth
Chlorine- and acid-based cleaners will cause the steel to rust. Do not use steel wool, steel brushes or other abrasives
