A new suite of Indian-made modern rugs from Nanimarquina, designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, has just arrived at 2Modern, fresh off its April debut in Milan. Called Blur, the collection takes its name from the Kilim rugs' defining two-tone woven pattern, which retains its meticulous geometric composition when viewed at close range, but appears as an out-of-focus tonal surface from afar.
According to Nanimarquina, "This blurred effect has been achieved by inverting the sense in which the Kilims are traditionally woven, which makes the process much more laborious. This change in weaving causes the lines to be blurred, mixing two colors unevenly, creating an aged rug, reminiscent of the past." A suite of contemporary rugs that also includes a runner, the Blur collection is being made available in 3 colorways—red, green, and black—and 3 sizes, bringing restrained beauty and contemporary elegance to any interior space or design scheme.
