Educated and based in Barcelona, Quitllet may very well be the most celebrated Catalan product designer in the world. Chosen as Maison & Objet's Designer of the Year in 2016, Quitllet has reaped dozens of accolades for a range of dynamic, technically sophisticated designs that include everything from modern furniture and cutlery, to elegant headphones and a luxury yacht. Quitllet's decade-long collaboration with Philippe Starck has yielded some of his best-known designs, most notably the Masters Chair for Kartell, an innovative design which merged the profiles of 3 iconic modern chairs by Charles Eames, Arne Jacobsen and Eero Saarinen—and garnered a slew of awards, in the process. Quitllet describes himself as a 'Disoñador,’ a Spanish hybrid of designer and dreamer, a description that manifests itself in the organic, futuristic shapes that define his product designs. Quitllet's outdoor furniture and lighting collection for Vondom beautifully illustrates this design worldview, showcasing groundbreaking voluminous forms and the inclusion of state-of-the-art elements, like LED lighting and Bluetooth technology.
