Ekaterina Panikanova

Russian artist Ekaterina Panikanova uses old books as her canvases, making beautifully articulated illustrations directly onto the yellowed pages of vintage books. Her art installations—grids of illustrated books arranged on a wall, which comprise a large, single narrative—merge painting, collage, and sculpture into a singular medium. Panikanova's collaboration with Dutch wallpaper brand, NLXL, translates her wall installations into two dimensions, exactingly replicating them into fool-the-eye trompe l'oeil wall coverings that are easy to install and no less dramatic than the originals.
