ANGO, a Bangkok-based modern lighting company founded by British designer Angus Hutcheson, has released a lovely new contemporary table lamp, and we're happy to say that it's exclusively available through 2Modern. The Unit Cocoon Table Lamp is another in a series of ANGO lamps distinct for their poetic diffusers, fashioned inventively from silkworm cocoons. Much like ANGO's Unit Cocoon Pendant Light, which resembles an upside floral arrangement, the table lamp has been designed to "perch on a table or cabinet like a beautiful bouquet," inserting an element of 'nature' into an interior space.
Silk cocoons are typically converted into silk threads for weaving, but ANGO manages to use the cocoons in their natural state, threading each rounded form through hand-soldered wire. The resulting light, filtered through the diffuser of cocoon material, is subtle and luminous. The lamp's base is a gleaming copper plated cylinder, offsetting the cocoon diffuser's matte finish and gently asymmetric shape. Available in three colors—natural, brilliant red, and dramatic black—the ANGO Unit Cocoon Table Lamp is available now, exclusively at 2Modern. See it here >
