Vico Magistretti was born in Milan in 1920. He has worked as an architect and designer on hundreds of projects in Italy, Europe, USA and Japan since 1946 . Among many awards, he has been given: 3 compasso d'oro (Milan, Italy); SIAD gold medal (London); gold medal and gran premio (Milan Triennale). He has taught at the Domus Academy in Milan; he is a member of the academy San Luca in Rome; an honorary professor and senior fellow of the royal college of art in London and was nominated royal designer for the industry by the royal society of arts. His design works are exhibited in museums all over the world (12 objects at the Moma, New York). Most of his lamps and furniture have been best sellers and also long sellers. His work is considered to be an important contribution to the worldwide success of italian design.
